küchenwohntrends and möbel austria 2019: Matchmaking and creative input for industry and trade
Awarding of the 2nd Austrian Interior Design prize plus the premiere of “Design Lovers 19” for young designers with extraordinary ideas
küchenwohntrends and möbel austria 2019 are the most important business events in the furniture and home interiors industry for Austria, southern Germany and neighbouring countries. From 8-10 May 2019, the extremely modern Hall 10 at the Salzburg exhibition site will also become the top design showcase: for the second time, “And the winner is...” will be announced for the Austrian Interior Design Award and at the matchmaking platform “design lovers 19”, young creatives and companies who are looking for something exceptional for their portfolio will be able to meet for the first time.
Every two years, küchenwohntrends and möbel austria invite home interiors and kitchen experts from the heart of Europe to discover and order the latest innovative products and services for their trade business. A clear focus of the presentations is the amalgamation of cooking, eating, living and sleeping spaces in a large, multi-faceted living area. Numerous renowned exhibitors and brands – the up-to-date exhibitor list can be consulted online – will be presenting this global trend in Salzburg, with design-oriented furnishings and home interiors equipment.
This dual trade fair will provide particular inspiration to designers, creatives, form designers and interior architects. The organiser of trendfairs and the furnishings and woodwork cluster (Möbel- und Holzbau-Cluster [MHC]) of Business Upper Austria – the business agency of the state of Upper Austria – will be focusing the 2019 event on design with several fresh ideas, concepts, product developments and prototypes.
In the top spot is the finale of the “Austrian Interior Design Award 2019” which began on 17 December, for which the special jury will select the best of the best this coming March. The prize ceremony will take place on 8th May – in exhibition hall 10. The MHC – the furnishings and woodwork cluster of Upper Austria – is behind the design prize, aiming to increase the awareness of value and design for the long term amongst designers, manufacturers and end customers.
Prizes will be awarded in two fields and 18 categories: product design – which includes furnishings, lighting, decoration and “green design” – as well as interior design, which focuses on living, office and sleeping areas as well as kitchens, bathrooms, shop-fittings and spaces in public buildings. Interior designers are particularly encouraged to submit their ideas. The category “Next Space” is similar: this category will promote fictional ideas which have not yet been put into practice for visionary living concepts for the future.
With the exception of “Next Space”, the prerequisite for submissions is that the projects and ideas must have been implemented within the last 36 months in Austria. For the last award in 2018, over 300 product designs and interior design projects were submitted, producing 18 delighted winners and creating public awareness which extended far beyond Austria. Interestingly, around one third of submissions came from the joinery trade – architects and industrial submissions therefore have a great chance of catching up.
However, “design lovers 19” represents an entirely new platform – conceived for young designers, creatives, conceptualisers, trendsetters and architects who seek direct contact with producers, suppliers, clients or distributors. The number of participants is limited to 16; the deadline for submissions for interested parties is 31 January. It must be possible to physically showcase at least one product. In addition to matchmaking, the focus is on communicating exceptional design ideas and reducing the timescale “from idea to market”.
For küchenwohntrends and möbel austria, these design events represent attractive added value, appealing to new and particularly innovative prospects – both suppliers and visitors. Well known top brands, innovative newcomers and seasoned market players from the kitchen, living and home interiors segments will also be on hand, presenting the complete range for future-oriented home interiors in a concentrated space. The organisers have already exceeded forecast numbers for bookings, meaning that the hall space of over 15,000 m² will once again be filled to capacity – to the maximum advantage of the circa 5,000 trade visitors who are expected to attend.
